AI Difficult Conversation Simulator — practice the 1:1 you have been avoiding
The Hard Talk is for the conversation you have rewritten in your head five times and still not scheduled. Sandeep Krishnan, your engineering manager, hears you out — then pushes back the way real managers do.
What the sim recreates
A one-on-one about scope, compensation, burnout, or a mistake. You choose the topic in the pre-sim context. The persona listens fully once, then challenges assumptions, asks what you have already tried, and offers a partial solution instead of a full one.
How the difficulty dial changes the round
Warm-up is supportive with gentle probes. Realistic is the actual 1:1 — calm, time-limited, one pointed pushback. Nightmare is the same manager on a bad day: skeptical about your framing, questions the timing, and returns to any past commitment you have not honoured.
What your Sim Report grades
Dimensions include framing, ownership, request clarity, and staying with the point when the conversation drifts. Each dimension quotes your exact wording and offers a version that lands.
Frequently asked
›Is this therapy or coaching?
Neither. It is a rehearsal for a workplace conversation. For therapy, see a licensed professional.
›Can I practice giving hard news to my manager?
Yes — including resignation, missed deadlines, or scope pushback.
›Will the persona ever get angry?
Firm and disappointed, yes. Never insulting. Pressure targets the topic, not the person.
›What if I need to stop mid-sim?
Use End Sim. Short runs still generate a partial Sim Report.
›Is this appropriate for skip-level or exec conversations?
Yes — set the context accordingly and the persona adapts the tone and stakes.
